The fish community in Gulf of Mexico mangroves, a response to hydrological restoration

The present study evaluated the ecological response of fish fauna to hydrological restoration in a mangrove area Terminos Lagoon Gulf Mexico. In two years, environmental parameters and ichthyofauna were obtained channel under conserved channel. was composed 12 species. As result process, changes composition abundance some species detected. presence visiting marine Bathygobius soporator Eucinostomus melanopterus, an increase resident fish, livebearers species, recorded. Richness, diversity, evenness vary significantly between channels. Generalized linear mixed models indicated that abundances overall fishes related water depth, temperature, salinity. results suggest are indicator reconnection with natural tidal flow short term. Long-term systematic monitoring will promote better understanding mangroves corresponding function this ecosystem.
